Some customers ask us “Where is my cleanout”? or “How do I know if I have a clean out? Well, those clean outs can definitely sometimes be hidden. They could be in the backyard, the side of the house, or the back of the house.
So, a couple of things to keep in mind about cleanouts.
- If your home was built prior to 1978, there’s an 80% chance that you’re not going to have a clean out. If it’s build after that, there’s a good chance that you’re going to have one.
- The first thing in trying to locate your clean out, is, go to the front or the side of your home, wherever you think that sewer line exits the home, and go to the bushes and start moving things around.
So, what you want to do is, whether you are on the side or in the front, just move the bushes around and if you see something that looks like the thing in the photo you’re in luck. That’s definitely a clean out.
Another good tip is to go ahead and take a rake and scrape the surface of the soil and if you hit one of these, then you’re definitely going to have a clean out.
Now, if for some reason you just find it hard following those steps then you can call a local plumber that has the right equipment to locate your sewer line and locate that clean out.
It’s a case-in device, with a camera and a transmitter at the end. With a tv monitor, so you get to see everything. So, once that clean out is identified, then that plumber can actually mark and expose that cleanout, if it’s there. – That’s right! If you don’t have one, the great thing is that the camera and location equipment, will actually identify exactly the best place to install a clean out for your property. – Well, there you have it, folks! Education on clean-outs. Thank you.
